Short intro

If you want to get straight to the point, I’ve created a special page for you. And if you’re not in a hurry, you can read on.

Hi, I’m Alexander, I live in Moscow, I love to travel, take photos and lug around a heavy backpack with a tripod and a bunch of lenses.

When I was a kid, I had a Vega camera. I was six or seven years old, and I was taking pictures of everything. We were sitting there—me, my parents, my parents' friends—and the film ran out. I opened the camera to see what I had. It seemed so logical—to take a picture and look at it right away. I remember that incident to this day.

(By the way, I have a film camera; sometimes I load it with film and take it with me. It puts me in a completely different mood. It’s not the same as when you have a digital camera slung over your shoulder.)

Almost half a century has passed. Now you can shoot and see the results right away. Before, you had to develop the film and print the photos. And to share impressions, show photos from trips or family albums, you had to paste the printed photos into the album, gather your friends, and it’s not a given that everyone was interested. I digitized my old photos, and I recommend you do the same. But we’ll come back to that a little later.

So called Slides could also be shown—small, framed photographs that were loaded into a special projector and projected onto a screen, a white sheet on the wall, or simply onto the wall. The lights in the room were turned off, and… Yes, some people sometimes fell asleep, aided by the dim light in the room and the hum of the projector’s fan.

So one day I decided that instead of forcing friends and guests to look at photos from our travels on their phones or laptops, I would gather my favorites in one place. That’s how the site kamatata.ru came into being (don’t ask why kamatata, maybe I’ll tell you when we meet). And it’s been around for quite a while now, for about ten years, it’s been moving from platform to platform, some things are added, some disappear. But the most important thing remains—the memories, impressions, and emotions expressed in photographs.

And at some point, I realized that much of what I do and can do could be of interest to someone else. So, I added offers for retouching, restoring old photos—film, slides, negatives, prints, scanning film and slides, and product photography. All of this is collected for you in a separate section.

Contact me, I’m always happy to meet new people, receive offers and opportunities!
